08/07/09 – Chrome, Youtube, Flash

Not much going on today. Apparently Google are making an operating system, the Google Chrome OS. Which should be quite cool, ‘cos Google are good at making easy-to-use fast stuff. Just like Chrome, which I’m using right now – for the simple reason that it just loads way faster than Firefox. I love Firefox and all its lovely extensions but sometimes you just want to do stuff quickly.

In other news, we’re uploading the new videos for my band, Epic Journey after our most recent gig to our YouTube. Shame about the rain on Sunday, ‘cos not many people want to go to the beach in the evening on a rainy day. Sometimes I think fate is just trying to screw me over for a laugh. No seriously, when I want something to happen I hope for it not to happen etc. and I find it is mostly effective.

Having fun in ICT currently after finishing DiDA – possibly the most pointless and boring qualification ever, which is being dropped next year T_T. Been using a great Flash tutorials site, gotoAndLearn but unfortunately most of it is about Flex and Flash CS4 which neither I or school has.

Yeah.

07/07/09 – Retweeting, AutoIt and the Angular Velocity of Marxism.

Major landmark event – I have officially been retweeted ONCE. I am joyously happy. You can add to this joy by retweeting my blog post – this cool website called TwitterFeed lets you tweet from an RSS feed, which is marvellously useful. I also uber-love the Twitter widget in WordPress – I mean seriously, how much cooler could it be?

In other news today, I am extremely tired and now know a lot more about the Russian Revolution due to boredom in History. One of my new favourite hobbies is, whilst in an art lesson to do the Kakuro or crossword on the back of g2. It’s quite amusing though someone always beats me to the crossword and sudoku . Also, what happens to be anyone’s records in Click Challenge on Facebook? I can get 400 but thanks to AutoIt I can also obtain a frankly ridiculous score of 1450.

That reminds me – software of the day is AutoIt. Really easy to learn coding for beginners (like me ) that can be applied to anything from trivial game bots/macros to full-on programs. Check out the website here, (AutoIt Website) and the excellent forums (AutoIt Forums) with some very talented users. So yeah. Also, apparently VLC 1.0.0 “Goldeneye” is out now, so go get that if you haven’t already.

Back to the topic of revolution, something that quite amused me today was a diagram drawn on the whiteboard of my school’s 6th Form maths revision room. It said:

“The Angular Velocity of Marxism from 1721 to 1917″

[EDIT] Ok, I just discovered someone else’s blog on the topic – Angular Velocity of Marxism. I suspect this is the same person as it is verbatim to the one I found O.o

If you haven’t already, check out these interesting sites. Go on, it’ll give you something to do for at least 5 minutes.

1. Explosm.net

Cyanide and Happiness is pretty disturbing but occasionally hilarious in a bad way. Hey, it gives me something to do when I first load up the Internet. Also, if you’re lucky there might be a “Make your own story” thread which provide hilarious and very long results from user suggestions. Haven’t seen one for a while though.

2. The Cheezburger network

Everyone on the internet knows ICHC, but you can also check out the always amusing FailBlog, RoflRazzi or GraphJam. The vast quantity of these similar sites can fill alot of browsing time.

3. Subnormality

One of many webcomics. Used to be better than it is, but looking through the archives takes a while and amused me well enough.

4. PhysicsGames

I love physics games. From Fantastic Contraption to Armadillo Run, and this website has a tonne of great games to check out. Seriously, it updates quite regularly and there are at least a hundred trivial games to keep you entertained.

5. Today’s Big Fail

If only to watch the top 5 or so videos, this site updated daily has a large number of hilarious videos. In all seriousness, this is probably the only website I have actually “laughed out loud” at. it’s that funny.
